These activity mats are used to provide a child with opportunities to integrate visual information with purposeful, sequenced movements of their hands and arms. These mats also require simultaneous, coordinated movement of both sides of the body, known as bilateral integration.
To Play: Pick up one bow in each hand (one of each color). Pick up one bow from the left side with your left hand. Pick up one different colored bow from the right side with your right hand. Cross hands and switch the bows to the opposite side of the paper (or pages for version 2). You will switch the bows! Keep switching the bows one for one until all the bows have switched from one side of the paper to the other.
Using both hands at the same time, pick up the first outer spoon. Pass the ornament from one spoon to the next. In order to do this, child will flip the spoon, dropping the ornament from one spoon to next. Move the ornament from the outer spoon to the Christmas Tree Mat.
To Complete: Print Hand Gesture Mats. Laminate for durability. Tape the mats horizontally OR vertically. Organize mats as desired. Select all or a couple mats (determined by child/therapy goals). You can create multiple variations by changing their position. Child stands midline in front of first mat. Child uses both hands to copy the hand gestures. Complete steps 3-4 for each mat.
